In this class we will explore how to construct coil pots with an
emphasis on shape. Other handbuilding techniques like pinch pots and
slab adornment will add to the fun!
About Jasmine:
Jasmine Crowe has been working professionally in
clay for over 20 years. She has a degree in Art, a dual focus in
ceramics and glassblowing, from Hartwick College in Oneonta NY. She met
her future husband there, and after graduation they traveled a bit
before he decided he wanted to work on his family farm in central New
York. Once they were back in the area, and before having children,
Jasmine was taking and then teaching classes at the Smithy in After
doing production pottery work for several years which she reports was
exciting and humbling, and ultimately an experiment in what her little
home studio could handle, she is now working on designing pieces that
she wants to use in her daily life with family and friends.
Jasmine
says, “I am drawn to texture, to impact, but ultimately enhancing
everyday rituals through clay. I am starting to teach again, and after
twenty-five years working in clay, it is a true delight to share my love
of this medium with the community again!"
