Little & Big Smithy’s 8 Weeks of Clay Play (Pottery Wheel and hand building) (Ages 6 - 17)

In this 6-week hybrid pottery wheel and hand-building class, you will learn the basics of clay building. The first three classes will focus primarily on coil and slab construction and the second three classes will focus on the use of the pottery wheel. Students will learn simple yet effective techniques to control their clay and leave with the confidence to create multiple functional forms. Work will be finished with beautiful colored glazes. The instructor will help you build, refine, and enhance your work. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of clay construction on and off the wheel. The student will be able to pick up their work the week following their final class date.

Possible projects include:

Handbuilding- mushroom/fairy/toad Houses, treasure boxes, contrast sculpture, sculpture, Hanging pots, Coil pots, and Mugs.

Pottery Wheel- Bowls, Cups, and Mugs.

Projects are catered toward our students' age levels
