Participants must be 12 years to 17 years old when the program starts.
We are so pleased to welcome back Karla's Teen Pottery Wheel for a special summer event! This class will meet 4 times -- 3 in a row, July 28th to 30th 9 AM to 12 PM with a Glaze day on August 18th, 9 AM to 12 PM. Karla is an excellent teacher for beginners on the wheel or those with a little more experience. Students should expect to get a little messy and should dress accordingly. It's a good idea to bring an old towel and a smock or apron.
We understand that parents cannot always pay for all the activities their kids want to do so we are extra excited to offer this camp, and all our kids' programming at the Smithy Clay Studio in July and August, as a pay what you can. We have listed some suggested donation levels if you want to chip in and support the programs we do. Your donations will help keep this going forward! Any amount is greatly appreciate and there is an open field for donations at the check out. We are a 501c3, registered nonprofit so your donations are tax deductible.
This program is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Earlville Opera House.
About the instructor:
You may know Karla's sturdy and charming mugs which are frequently available as Stagecoach Coffee's signature mug for sale in the cafe. Karla has a degree in k-12 Art Education and went to Kripalu for Yoga Teacher Training in 2014. Karla has been a fixture at the Smithy Clay studio since 2011, sharing her melded love of throwing on the wheel and doing yoga with the community in her class, “Centering the Potter and the Clay”. Come experience the joy of centering your body and mind in the studio.
