Making, attaching, and altering forms to build creative (functional or sculptural) structures/vessels will be the primary skills covered in this workshop with Megan Adams Irving. During the first half of the course, we will focus on select handbuilding skills like pinch pots, slab, and coil. The second half will be more independent and participants will choose a project with the instructor's guidance.
Megan has part of the Smithy Clay Studio community since 2014. She regularly teaches here but only recently became our administrator, overseeing the programming and day-to-day operations. She received her degree in studio art from Bard College where she focused on painting. To her, clay is a painterly medium with endless creative possibilities. She loves to share skills with other makers and see how they apply them to their work.
