Clay for Kids

Come play with clay where we will explore different methods of handbuilding and sculpting. Each week we will cover new techniques from forming the clay (pinching, rolling out, coiling) to surface decoration (carving, drawing, painting, glazing). Students will learn the essentials and be guided to follow their imaginations through the intuitive tactile process. At the end of the 8 weeks students will not only take home their own creations of art but leave with a new avenue of self expression and an understanding of the creative potential of clay. We hope you'll come join us!

Drop-in Registrations have been added! Registering for all 8 weeks is the best deal at $250. Add drop-ins for $35 per class, that's $140 for 4 and $245 for 7 classes. You must choose your drop-in dates for March and April in the calendar when registering.

About the instructor:

You may know Karla Andela's sturdy and charming mugs which are frequently available at Stagecoach Coffee's signature mug for sale in the cafe. Karla has a degree in k-12 Art Education and went to Kripalu for Yoga Teacher Training in 2014. Karla has been a fixture at the Smithy Clay studio since 2011, sharing her melded love of throwing on the wheel and doing yoga with the community in her class, “Centering the Potter and the Clay”. Come experience the joy of centering your body and mind in the studio!
