Exploring the Potter's Wheel (5-weeks)

Learn or expand your knowledge of wheel thrown ceramics in this fun and inclusive 5-week class. Beginners will be introduced to clay and wheel-throwing techniques. Students will learn the technique of throwing, centering, and making cylinders, bowls, and mugs. We will move through the process of centering, trimming, pulling & attaching handles, and glazing. Intermediate and advanced students will be guided through a technique of their choice: lidded vessels, plates, and platters, pitchers and spouts, closed forms, or planters.

Mairi Meehan is an environmental scientist and potter from Cherry Valley, who has honed her craft across the globe, teaching and creating pottery in Italy, Canada, Africa, and throughout the USA. While she calls herself a "hobby potter," her creative practice was instrumental in completing her PhD. Mairi brings her unique blend of scientific insight and artistic passion to her classes, fostering a relaxed, enjoyable environment where students can explore the art of pottery in a fun and approachable way.
