Making, attaching, and altering forms to build creative (functional or sculptural) structures/vessels will be the primary skills covered in this workshop with Megan Adams Irving. We will focus on select handbuilding skills like pinch pots, slab, and coil. A suggested slab project suitable for completion during the 4-week class will be provided but students are welcome to work more independently. This is a great time to finish projects with and instructor's guidance before the holiday break.
Megan has been part of the Smithy Clay Studio community since 2014. She regularly teaches here and is our administrator, overseeing the programming. She received her degree in studio art from Bard College where she focused on painting. To her, clay is a painterly medium with endless creative possibilities. She loves to share skills with other makers and see how they apply them to their work.
